Collier and Millers' Engineering Division has a strong culture of training and personal development. As a successful applicant you will join the Engineering team as a Welding-Fabricator, Fitter-Machinist or Sheet-Metal Apprentice. You will commence work in a modern engineering workshop and be given the opportunity to develop your skills to service customers in the Agricultural, Transport, Food Processing and Construction industries.
Successful applicants will work at our engineering workshop in Griffith NSW and complete a Certificate III in Engineering, with structured training provided both on-the-job and through tertiary providers. As an apprentice at Collier and Miller we know you want to get straight in and begin working with the latest machinery and equipment. When you start with us we make sure you are teamed up with an experienced mentor with the aim to get you up to speed and productive as quick as possible. You can expect to be working on projects from the start, we expect you to commence your welding, machining or sheet-metal career by learning on the job and doing real life, productive work. When you commence an apprenticeship we are sure you want exposure to the latest in technology, up to date equipment and modern work practices, Collier and Miller Engineering is a workplace with a focus on productivity and helping you be the best you can.
Your career path will be a 4 year apprenticeship to gain a Certificate III in Engineering - with a specialisation in either welding, machining or sheet-metal. This will give you a great base to further your experience and education levels. Working for an employer that is interested in your personal development allows you to progress. You can complete Certificate IV subjects, allowing skill development and qualifications in Computer related manufacturing and design, further trade skills and management subjects. All training is part of the Australian Qualification Framework, nationally recognised and a personal asset for your future development.
Certificate III Engineering - Fabrication Trade (Specialising in Welding Fabrication) - Welding
The apprenticeship is tailored for metal fabrication specialising in welding. You will begin work as a member of the Fabrication team and be assigned an experienced workplace mentor. Within a short time you will be learning to use the latest in MIG and TIG welders, Plasma profile cutters, digital benders, brake presses and saws. You will learning how to read CAD plans and the processes involved in production fabrication. You will gain experience in general engineering, where you will repair existing equipment for customers as well as production work in our machinery manufacturing workshop.
Certificate III Engineering - Mechanical Trade - Fitting & Machining
The apprenticeship is tailored for fitting-machining. You will begin work as a member of the Machine-Shop team and be assigned an experienced workplace mentor. Within a short time you will be learning to use Lathes, Milling Machines, Dynamic Balancers, MIG Welders and CNC Lathes. You will learn how to read CAD plans and the processes involved in production fabrication. You will gain experience in general machining and fitting included a wide variety of repairs and maintenance jobs.
Certificate III - Fabrication Trade (Specialising in Sheet-Metal Fabrication) - Sheet Metal
The apprenticeship is tailored for metal fabrication with a specialisation in sheet-metal. You will begin work as a member of the Sheet-Metal team and be assigned an experienced workplace mentor. Within a short time you will be learning to use the latest in Presses, CNC machines, Guillotines, Benders, MIG & TIG welders and digital benders. You will be learning how to read CAD plans and the processes involved in production fabrication. You will gain experience in general engineering, where you will repair existing equipment for customers and become an important member of the equipment manufacturing work center.

These apprenticeships will ideally suit people with a mechanical or engineering aptitude with an interest in pursuing a trade related qualification. These are physically demanding jobs and require applicants that can pass physical and drug tests prior to commencement of employment.
